I did the same conversion
I did the same conversion this past summer on my 66 Coupe. See my photos. Loud is right but I love it!! Now they are being hooked to my new zz383 GM stroker. I changed to 2.5" manifolds so we have to fab a new stainless pipe to the sidepipe from where they necked down to 2". Haven't fired it up yet but it has to be louder. Good thing I went to high school with most of the local cops.

BC66.......Long time since we have talked , I am thinking of installing new (less restrictive) mufflers under my stock sidepipes.......curious to see your setup..are you off work for the winter ??? The Dog from Ipswich
