Corvette friends
pPease read and advise what I should look for on Wednesday when I view this 57 Vette?? Thanks in advance.. And how much is it worth????

One Owner, One Driver 1957 Chevrolet Corvette, in its original Onyx Black paint. 283 single 4 barrel 3 speed transmission. My father bought this new. He ordered it in April 1957 and it didn’t arrive to Randolph Chevrolet, in Camden, NJ until September 1957. after a summer GM strike. My father actually picked his Corvette up, when the train brought it in to Philadelphia. Then he drove it in for dealer prep. The only options he ordered were heat and wide white wall tires with full wheel covers. It is a radio delete car.
This Corvette has been garage kept from new. Always driven with love, never raced and well maintained. It turned 100k when he had to stop driving. I got to drive him in it only then, when I was 50. Clear, original 1957 New Jersey Title. $60,000.00 serial # 6101

Third one of these type threads in as many days....
New member, nothing in the profile and a great car, -- apparently a full-blown "survivor" with a great backstory, that anyone would want...

Hmmmm....

The paint on the coves isn't original, or is the interior. Shouldn't this car be a legacy?

My thoughts exactley regarding the coves the owner states the original 283 was replaced from a short block to a long block with the same maniforld and carburetor?? #6101 would also have the extra bracing for the dash correct? How to I check that??

So, are you trying to buy this from your father or sell it for him?

So, it is not your father's car? You should have clarified that this is 2nd or 3rd hand info.

I think you have given limited pictures and have not responded to many good questions so far in this thread. It is hard to give you accurate help without this.

Another thread in the for sale section. "my father"- "not my father". Lots of misspelled words. No need for further comment.

Not sure what you guys don't understand. The OP is looking at buying this car, and the info about the father etc is what the seller is giving him. He - like many of us - realize there's not a lot to go on, and he's asking what else he should look at or ask to get a better idea, when he actually checks the car out. Lighten up!

He has been given this info and needs to provide more to get a good idea of value.

Yes, that car will have the cowl bracing. Kneel on the ground and look above the kick panels, and you'll see some members that way.

It was very clear in his first post that he was/is looking to buy the car but that it belonges to someone not his father.

No it was not clear at all. He has this thread and another one in the classifieds and in that one he edited it to clear things up. In this thread there is NO indication that it was and and I read it as it was HIS fathers and obviously others did too which caused him to edit the other thread.

Well, actually the change in font was a pretty good indication he was shifting gears. I will grant it could have been presented better but I had no trouble seeing the difference between who was "talking" in the 2 sections of the post. And apparently I'm not the only one who was able to figure it out.

Be that as it may, it will be interesting to see more details when he looks at it tomorrow - if the caustic welcome didn't run him off.

I have to apologize to wpschroed. In a world full of so much baloney, sometimes I think I see it where it actually isn’t.

Good luck with your decision on the car today.

I also found it a bit nebulous....which caused my initial skepticism - which hasn't entirely abated BTW...
