Default How may drive them

..............as a 2nd, 3rd or more car? In other words how many here drive their car as they might a regular 2nd or 3rd car. These day we NEARLY ALL have more then one car in a family or as an individual.

The days of the 50/60s are long gone when the wife did not work, the kids walked and you did not need a 2nd (or more) car.

So how many consider your (one of them if you have multiples) old Corvette a 2nd car OR like me your 1st car?

I drive one or the other of my old Corvettes nearly every day I leave the house. I drive my truck when I need to haul something, go to the grocery store or the weather is too bad for me to drive one of my old Corvettes which is not often.

I try to drive the 65 at least 4 times a week. Short jaunts on Saturday and Sunday. Even paid more to Be able to drive it to work twice a week.

Not if you want your classic car insurance to cover you....

I plan on driving mine as much as the insurance allows. Hopefully at least twice a week to work.

I bought my '63 Vette as a single person and it was my only car until 1967. After military I married first wife; and got a second car. I drove the Vette to work year around. Second car was the family car. Winters in Iowa were, and still are nasty. Not good for the Vette. In 1970 I bought my first new van to haul family around, and still continued driving my Vette all year. Since I married current wife 32 years ago, we have far more miles on my Vette every year than our other vehicles. The only real change is that I will not drive it in the salt. We live year round in Wisconsin and the winters are just as nasty as Iowa.

I alternate with mine thru out the summer. About one week for each one. The 911 gets track days, been doin that for 20 years, I'm trying to learn how to drive the front wheel drive Mini at some autoxes. So far the Hemi/Vette is just top down driving but as I upgrade the suspension with coil/overs, I'm going to take it to an autox and see how it feels.

I've gone through every phase over the last 40 years, from daily driver, to weekend play toy, to leaving it parked for far too long. Now that I'm retired I seldom have a need to drive any of my 3 cars but if it's more than the one mile to Ace Hardware and back and I'm not hauling stuff, I'll drive the vette.

My ‘64 convertible is my daily driver. My wife has a cool little MB AMG crossover and I will take that if the weather is really nasty, I’m kind of retired now, so I probably only drive a few times a week.

If the suns shining, mine goes out for at least an hours drive. Fortunately, here in Texas that's a lot of drive time. 5-6000 miles per year.

I enjoy driving my 61, but it’s still just a car. If I want to do some cruising around on a nice day, I’ll be on my Harley.

I don't drive my 67 vert to work or store, just for fun. It's one of three sports cars I own--67 c2 Convertible, 2006 PCA Club Coupe 2 of 50, and 2015 C7 convertible. The C7 is a go to work on nice days with the top down, car. I have a daily driver Nissan Rogue to haul the dog, other stuff and groceries, and to drive in the rain/cold weather.

Realistically I have one too many sports cars, and will sell off the C7 at some point after I retire.

SW Vette,

With that nice sounding engine, you should post a video going up the mountain!

Wow!
Thank you Mother Theresa.
We must have watched two entirely different videos. I didn't see any excessive speed at all there or any dangerous driving. The fixed camera doesn't have the peripheral vision or the panorama the driver does.
I enjoy SW's videos. The one on PCH is great!
If you feel these videos of a Corvette running 40 miles an hour are "dangerous & IDIOTIC" maybe it's time to trade your vette in for a mini van.
There. I said it. I mean it.
Lighten up dude.

Then you must be as Clueless as "SW" & if you didn't see "any dangerous driving" ...then you MUST have the Same Driving Skills & be as BLIND as Mr. Magoo!!!...On Second thought ...I retract that statement!....Mr. Magoo is a BETTER Driver than BOTH of YOU!!!...Mark
