Since AOS used the bird cage paint line for underbody hardware, how far do they carry this?
I can see the major metal riveted to the floor pan of my 64 convertable are zinc chromate, but are all riveted pieces zinc painted? What about the bracket for the antenna riveted on? No green, just rust. How about the riveted speedometer cable bracket in the tranny tunnel? No green showing there. The E brake cable under the driver floor pan shows zinc, so some small items were obviously painted.
Have recently read that one. It states as in the question that riveted on parts were painted with zinc chromate. Just wondered if some of the very small ones may have been plated and looking for confirmation. Especially the Speedo cable clip and antenna mount as these show no evidence of zinc.
I don't think the article on AOS mentions the core support. AOS painted them with zinc chromate. It was the black out process that covered them in black. However because the blackout was sprayed from above, traces of zinc chromate would still be visible on a completed car.
