I cant get the window crank handle to lock in place. It seems like the stainless spacer (that is part of the door panel for the window crank) wont allow the crank in far enough for the snap ;lock to engage and lock the handle to the window shaft.
If you have a repro door panel they are too bulky around the cranks Get anther person to push back on the panel around the crank while you slap the crank on. Also if your using repro cranks I found that the splines and clip groove is not correct and makes getting them clicked on more difficult

Absolute truth. I went through the same thing on cranks for my 67 Chevelle - the groove for the clip was in the wrong place on the crank shaft making it hard to install and then the splines weren't long enough to engage the regulator without pushing on the handle - terrible pieces IMO.
