Engine Paint

I'm getting ready to paint a '66 427 engine and was wondering who makes the correct shade of orange. What does NCRS recommend?

Everyone has a favorite. Duplicolor is one choice, Seymour is another.

Back in the day, Plasicote was the closest to original orange, but I'm having a hard time finding it.

Last week before painting some of my engine parts, I sprayed Duplicolor and Eastwoods Eurospray on a test panel and they looked the same. Both good products.

Both engines plants and multiple suppliers of paint and I’m sure it varied from batch to batch Pick a brand that makes sense and move on. Most people over restore and put to much paint on the engine to begin with

I used Eastwood back in the 90s and I must say it looks as good today as it did then - but I always felt it was a bit too red. Doesn't look bad in this photo but a lot of original big blocks seemed to originally been Halloween orange or almost Hemi orange.
