I just purchased a 65 Corvette telescopic steering column basket case & I need some clear photos & drawings showing parts & exploded views and any other information that anyone can give. Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Google Jim Shea and Corvette Steering together and all Jim's technical papers should show up. Jim is/was an engineer responsible for a lot of the steering designs at GM. If you can't locate, let me know and I will link them for you. There is also a guy in NCRS Driveline that now rebuilds these tele units. His contact info is 315-866-0517. Name is Mike Denapole. Company name is Precision Corvette Steering Columns.
DR REBUILD old catalogue and maybe even current website has exploded views of the steering columns and parts lists as well.

If you go to the Long Island Corvette Supply website and download their catalog, there will be an exploded view of the various steering columns with part numbers where you can order what you need to rebuild. It also helps show where the individual components are located. It's not overly technical but is a source for an exploded view. You then can order the parts you might need.

Scott would be a good source and a wealth of info as well. He also is a 65/66 NCRS judge along with his brother. Steve is an airline pilot so you may have to leave him a phone number to call back when he can. It may take a few days so email may be the best. He's a nice guy and will take the time to talk you thru what you need. He also has a lot of NOS parts to rebuild your column he may sell.
I am weighing in on a three-year old thread, but wanted to note that I reached out to Mike Denapole (315-866-0517, owner at Precision Corvette Steering Columns) after reading this thread a few days ago and seeing his name. Nice guy...Mike was able to remotely and quickly diagnose my problem (missing rod in front of the lock bolt/star screw). Very helpful! Thank you to those who posted in the thread, and of course, to Mike.
