Quick question on the spark plug shields on a '66 L72, are they just bare, no paint?

Appreciate the help.....

Cadmium plated. If you keep em out of moisture, they'll last quire some time. Mine got rusty over 17 years, but that was in Gulf Coast humidity where aluminum will crust over in a closed garage from moisture moving through the concrete floor.

Thank you for the info. My Dad must have painted them black some 30 odd years ago, probably when he painted the exhaust manifolds white..... Reliving his '60's hot rodder days.....

Now, just need to get what is left of the black paint off.....

if original, be very careful not to take off the raised line in the 5 o’clock position

I just looked at them, and they do have the raised line. What is that for, or was it just part of manufacturing?
