Hi fellas, I've been trying to replace the window rollers , I have a replacement set from a major supplier . I ground off one of the rollers and when I went to install the replacement I find the body of the replacement rivet is .194 and the original is .206 . I have come to find that there is no way I can squeeze this rivet to make it fit tightly in the hole the original came out of. Does anyone have any experience with replacing these rollers? At this point I am looking for a way to reuse the roller that came out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Jeff
The rollers I refer to are on the 2 actuator arms that the p/w motor or the window handle manipulate to raise and lower the window .I hope this helps. Jeff
This may or may not help you: Aluminum rivets will squeeze out or enlarge their shank diameter the more you squeeze or hammer them with a rivet gun. You are looking to make up 0.012 inch with basically a 3/16 nominal rivet. If you start with a extra long rivet shank, you should be able to make it fit..........or perhaps put some heat shrink (2 layers) over the rivet shank before riveting.
Outside of this, I should probably give up trying to help.
Larry the piece that holds the roller is the rivet, it is steel and not that maleable , using shrink wrap as a shimming material is a good idea , thanks for the input. Jeff
