Default Leak from Holley float bowl casting plug?

Hi,
Just installed my new fuel pump and fired up the '67 for the first time this season.
I have a 4160 and have a jet of fuel spraying out from the casting plug on the top of the primary fuel bowl at the fuel inlet, some Holleys have a float adjustment screw in that position.
I read online to fix it with JB Weld, anyone try it? I want to be sure its a permanent fix, fuel spraying on a hot engine is not one of my favorite things.

Paul

Clear epoxy will fix it, just be sure to get the area very clean and let it dry completely before applying.

x2 its not under a lot of pressure that will hold fine indefinitely

I've had that same plug leak on my 4160. I removed the bowl and using a 1/4" socket of that particular size, lightly re-peened the plug. Those plugs are swedged in place. Just be sure to back up the float bowl in that area with a bar or solid object of some kind as you don't want to distort or crack the bowl. It hasn't leaked since.

It's not a original 3810 bowl so you can epoxy it or get a bowl from a 1966 Holley 3367 that has the external adjustable float.

Thanks for the responses guys.
There is pressure in that area, the pin stream of fuel was arching about 2 ft in the air, the plug is located in the fuel passage from the fuel line.
I took the bowl off and the float out, I can move the the plug a bit by pushing up from the inside with a right angle pick. I'll try re-peening it, maybe also some JB Weld.

Paul, however you decide to fix it just be careful with gasoline. Buy a new bowl, peen the flange tight and j&b weld, whatever. The last thing you want to do is have that liquid fuel spray on a hot motor.

It's only a few psi, if you have an original mechanical fuel pump, but a small hole looks like a geyser.

make sure you use an epoxy that is ethanol proof if you use E-10 gasoline.

...just like high voltage, not much substance (current) but lotsa pressure.
