Does anyone know who I can send my distributor to have it rebuilt ? I need the inner brass bushings (inside the main body) replaced and then the unit assembled.

Thanks

If you are a do-it-your self type person, they are not difficult to replace. I just rebuilt a Mopar distributor which used 1/2" ID/5/8" OD bushings and used a 9/16 tap to thread the old bushings and a piece of all-thread, a couple of nuts and some washers to pull it out. After setting the lower bushing with my hydraulic press, I slipped the shaft in upside down from the bottom and through the upper bushing and set it up in my press so it shoved the bushing and shaft down together and kept everything in good alignment with no risk of mushrooming or collapsing. Shaft spun easily when slid in from the top and had no lateral play when done. If it seems a bit tight put the shaft in a drill chuck and spin it a bit and it should ease up. I'm not sure of the size of GM bushings without first checking but the same approach should work easily.

Some prefer to drive the old bushings out with a punch or piece of tubing.

Bryan, Paragon Corvette Reproductions offers this service as well. I sent them the distributor to my '63 as well as a Pertronix kit and they restored it and added the Pertronix at the same time.

Good luck... GUSTO
