in preparation to do an alignment i'm attempting to measure the "K" and "D" dimensions on a 67 coupe.
the assembly manual tells me to measure "from under side of sill molding (appearance line) to ground".
is the "appearance line" the black painted/polished aluminum trim piece that runs between the wheel
wells and under the door? do side pipes effect this measurement? tia.
If you're trying to verify that the car is within production ride height you need to measure the Z and D dimensions as explained in the AIM and CSM. Z and D are not effected by tire size, but K is.
duke, mainly i was trying to figure out what constituted the sill molding/appearance line so i'd know what to measure to. the car has side exhausts so not sure what translates. the AIM wasn't specific enough at least for me and i found two tables of "riding heights" in the CSM but couldn't find where to measure to and from. probably in there somewhere. it's not critical, just curious as to how the car compares to the spec. i've lowered the the inboard ends of the strut/camber rods with a C3 bracket and shim so the "D" dimension is now lower by about 1 1/2". right now i'm just trying to deal with the rear suspension. i'll eventually get to the front and check the "J" and "Z" dimensions but i already know that both sets of upper an lower control arms need to be re-bushed. thanks again for your input. frank
