For about 30 years i bought many corvettes and loads of parts. So i am trying to sell everything now i finally realize at 71 and poor health i'll never get back to restoring working on/ anyhoo... I was going through boxes of parts and found two trim tags. So i went to my old little " ncrs pocket spec guide" to see what they were so the 67 = style 67 467, a- 3329 body, 986 paint- but wait it says 418 trim. Well according to the spec book 418 wasn't checked for the 986 silver paint??? I am sure it is an original tag as it's in a box i haven't opened for at least 25 years.
The pocket size, NCRS 53-67 Specification Guide lists 418, Dark Teal Blue, and Black as the only two recommended interiors for the the Silver exterior.
The key word here is "recommended". Chevrolet recommended possible color combinations, but did not restrict customers from ordering non-recommended combinations.
However, if you ordered something really weird (like red exterior with green interior), they dealership would generally require a significant (like 25%) down payment. That way if the customer backed out of the deal, the dealership had enough money to change the interior color to something more appropriate.
