Being a Wisconsinite, he is held in great esteem in our State. GB has had a legacy of great QBs over the years. '67 Goodwood Green is a great color for that year.
That was quite a gift. Pro players did not make a lot of money back in those days. Heck, the average salary of a pro player in 1970 was $23,000. I think Starr made around $100K during his Super Bowl winning year of 1967.
Stef Curry of Golden State makes $37.3 million today. Timing is everything....

IIRC, Johnny Unitas laid carpet to pay the bills in the off season in the early 60s. Roger Staubach got his real estate license to make money in the off season and to have a job for when his pro career ended. That worked out pretty well for him - if I read it right, he's the wealthiest retired pro football player, at somewhere between $500M and a $1B.
Bart Starr and Johnny Unitas----------------------------------back when football was enjoyable. And, I was also a Roger Staubach fan.
If you gave me a lifetime season pass to ALLLLLLLLL the games, front row parking and free concessions, I would not watch one of them.
Two of our nations biggest sports, football and NASCAR, I've lost TOTAL interest!
Bart Starr holds a special place in my heart as him and my cousin Jim Weatherwax (#73) were teammates and friends. I remember watching Superbowl 1 & 2 as a preteen scanning the screen for my cousin. Didn't need to look for Bart as he was usually the center of attention. RIP Bart.
Jim said "After the game was over (SB-1) I got in my car and drove home. It was just the last game of the season and we won" (he lived in L.A.)
50th anniversary of Super Bowl with some of the Packers that were at #1.

Yes, the modern world sucks! Back in ye good olde days, before Pertronix, cell phones and antibiotics, the world was better. And that rock and roll music these young whipper snappers listen to!! 5k mile tune ups and 11 mpg is where it’s at!
Bart Starr defined greatness by being a teammate, a leader, and a winner not through the media and talking about it.
You can do nothing but respect him as a man and as an athlete.
Oh and he could break your heart if you were a Cowboy fan.
