could someone tell me what is the correct harmonic balancer would be for a 65 , 365 hp 327 with no air or power steering just alt and water pump and idler/ tensioner. thanks!
There's three different 8" balancers. A thin one for standard 350 engines. A thin one for 400 engines, external balance and a fat one. For SHP 327/350 engines.
In the case of the fat ones, there's two different kinds relating to timing marks. You need the one where the TDC timing mark lines up with the crankshaft key way.
thanks guy's, that's what I wanted to know. i'll try to pull the pulley off tomorrow and see if it has slipped. couldn't get it to hit tdc and be lined up on zero when I got it running 2 years ago. have the engine pulled now and stripped everything off the body today getting ready to paint it in a couple of weeks, weather and work permitting that is.

Be sure to use a proper puller to remove it, as improper removals and installations are probably a major cause of these getting misaligned. Know that having a correct one rebuilt is far cheaper (and quicker) than trying to find a correct one and buying it. IIRC, they're around $350-400 each.
