Guys,
I installed PW this winter. They worked fine until today. The driver side will not go up. I got it to work briefly for about 5-6 times then is quit again.
I do not think it is the switch because I can hear a click in the door and the amp gauge moves to the left when I try to raise it.
Any ideas are appreciated.
Sounds like the switch is OK. I bought a repo switch and it lasted a few months and failed. I took my original switch apart and thoroughly cleaned it up and all has been good for a few years. Regarding your problem,Sounds like the switch is good and the circuit is good as well. I would pull the door panel off and check to see if the window is off the track or blocked by a stop or lose bolt etc. Check the spring to see if it snapped or off. Lastly, check the motor with direct power from the battery with a few electrical connections an 10 feet of wire. There should be two wires one is for up and one is for down. The bracket is the ground and negative side of the battery wire can be clipped to the bracket or case with an alligator clip. Be careful as the door inner parts can be very sharp in there and the motor can easily break a finger. Make sure you can quickly disconnect any wires while testing. Jerry
What year car ?
Are they OEM-style repros or Specialty Power windows...
It is a 65 style coupe, OEM style repos.
The more I think about it I will just have to take it apart and go to it. I should have mentioned that i used a nice original switch that I was lucky to get.
I am pretty sure it is getting power to the motor because I hear it click. Also, I can see the amp gauge move left.
So it either has to be a bad motor or it is jammed. The repo motors are much faster then the originals. So, I am thinking jammed.

I have seen a lot of re pro power windows jam down, the motor runs so fast it jams it down in the door. I was able to fix some of them with added stops at the bottom of the door.

Thanks, Pro Vette. Where did you place the additional stops? Were they the same size?
At this point I am just hoping that I don't have to remove the vent window again. So, I am kind of hoping for a jam.
Mike Coletta has told me many times to “bump” the power window switch at the extreme opened and closed positions. Don’t drive it to either position at full speed. Particularly if you have a C1. You can jam those windows past the stops on a heartbeat.

I had a car with the windows stuck down. Switches and wires checked ok. power to motors, but no movement. Took everything apart to bench test motors (ok) then reassembled everything. Worked fine after that, so I'm concluding the windows were jammed down. The motors are so fast the windows slam down and get stuck somehow.. I think if the regulator gets too far extended, it jams. I think limiting the travel down is the answer.

I will try to get a picture of where to put the stopS
The new reproduction C2 power window kits claims that their new motors run at the same speed as the originals. So, you can just buy one motor if needed and still keep the other original motor or buy the entire kit if needed.
Not knowing either way if this is true. Seems like the window tracks should also be replaced during this time.
Do they sell C2 Corvette window tracks?
I was thinking about that. 54 years of easy rolling crank windows and then I install a motor that is at least 3 times faster. Slamming down to boot. I don't believe for a second that they are the same speed. Also, I noticed some small dings and bends in my tracks. I am suspecting that may have contributed to the problem.
I am not looking forward to taking everything apart AGAIN. I sure hope that this is the last time.
I pulled off the door panel and found out that the motor is jammed. The gear in the regulator is off to the side and jammed.
So, my new problem is that I can't get at anything because the window is in the way.
Does anyone have experience taking the regulator out with the window jammed down?
The only good news is that the supplier, Auto City Classic, said that they will warranty it.
FYI, they also informed me that the old motors ( round motors ) had problems and the new square motors replace them.
Any help is appreciated.
Some things are best left for the Pro's. I would take it to a Corvette Restoration Shop in your area.
A friend of mine, who works at a Precision Hot Rod, stopped by to help me get the window up. We unscrewed the regulator assembly and pried it up to disconnect the glass from the channel.
The regulator now works when I hit the switch. I think I am still going to bite the bullet and wait for the new one rather then try to make this one work.
It is just such a Bitch of a job to pull the glass and vent window that I am temped to re-install it and figure out a fix. Maybe thicker rubber stops.
