Folks, my dad has a 1967 Corvette Coupe and I need to replace the battery. I've disconnected the battery cables/terminals and have removed the bolt that holds the battery clamp in place and now the battery moves freely and can be removed. BUT, it won't fit out. There are hoses and a mini keg shaped barrel above the battery possibly reservoir for the antifreeze? How do I get the battery out? If you folks know, I could use the help. Thanks in advance.

remove the bolts holding the straps. then carefully move the expansion tank towards the engine and tie it off. but watch out on the two heater hoses going to the heater core and not to bend them to hard. you may have to turn the battery on its side so make sure you protect the surroundings
Some will also use a plastic bag to surround the battery when pulling it out to help prevent any spills onto the fender paint. For me, I just put down a towel over the fender, and tie off the expansion tank, and turn the battery when lifting out. It will be awkward on, and strain, your back.
Bungee the expansion tank out of the way, on reinstall tape that inboard upright battery cover rod to the inner fender with blue tape, once the battery is installed peel the tape off. If that rod falls down sideways once the battery is in before you can secure it you will discover a whole new vocabulary you didn't know existed...
