Frank stuffed a SS board out of an over the counter unit into an old Delco chassis & lid, he has a photo, if he sees this he will send it. Regardless, a solid state regulator is lightyears better on every level not the least of which is you won't touch it again. Good regulation is like a good diet, everything works better...

Yup - a Wells VR-715 placed into a Declo original housing and base - passed judging and works great:
That's exactly what I did along with a 42amp alternator. Now the courtesy lights don't fade in/out and a steady gauge. Very easy and inexpensive improvement.
