Default tach cable/ throttle linkage

when i bought this car two years ago it had no tach cable, i have since replaced the wrong intake and added the tach cable. however the cable seems like it will interfere with the throttle linkage (see pix) is there some way to turn distributer without losing timing, which is right in this position. i have cable pulled up but don't like the kink , afraid it will break.

Your distributor is not installed in the correct position. The points adjustment window should be facing towards the front of the car and that way the tach cable would be facing toward the firewall (where you, then, wouldn't have a kink). You need to pull the dizzy and start all over again. You're almost 90* out of whack.

Hard to tell from the top photo but I looks like you'll also need to index the plug wires two (2) positions counterclockwise to allow you to rotate the distributor into the correct position.
