at what point did they start dating 66 wheels? were they all dated or did they start at some point? I have heard both and I have a set im selling and the guy buying them insists they were all dated. Is there any pubication that shows this info?
I'll go out on a limb here and say I think that the dates are inside....you cannot see them with a tire mounted. I'll double check...unless somebody else knows for sure. Chuck

No good, Chuck: I just went down to the garage & scanned the inside of the wheel (tire dismounted) and couldn't see a thing! Back to "Square 1"

My 1965 wheels were stamped "Kelsey Hayes", "JK 15 x 5 1/2", and a "65" on the inside of the wheel with the tires removed. One tire had a tube in it and that wore the stamps considerably. If you search for 65- 66 wheel dates there was a thread a couple of weeks back that included an article from the NCRS. Best of luck.
The NCRS article is excellent, with lots of info. If it's an original Kelsey-Hayes wheel, the size, plant, and date info will be stamped on the inside of the rim (under the tire). If there are no K-H stamped codes in that area, the wheel is a reproduction. Exterior stamped codes (adjacent to the valve stem hole) didn't start until 1967.
I double checked a few sources and they are supposed to be dated inside as described before. 63 and 64 wheels are unique. They're 15 x 5.5 and have the cone shaped inner surface. In 65 or 66, Kelsey added the "safety bead"...the extra step in the back of the wheel to prevent the tire from rolling off the rim. The 64 wheel differs from the 63 only in the fact that there is one hole drilled through the spider area. My original 63 wheels have tires mounted on them now, but I clearly remember them being dated. I have also been helping a neighbor do his 64, and I remember his being dated too.....the only difference in the wheels being the hole in the spider area in 1964. Chuck
Chuck - I bought mine from a buddy in 1967 (upon which to affix studded snow tires  ) who had installed "mag" wheels on his '63 s/w. I'd always assumed they were original to HIS Vette...guess I'm wrong!
