Default Reproduction VIN tag? Wrong Rivits? What is your opinion on this car?

Saw it on Ebay, seems like the price is too good to be true until I saw the part about the no title and issues with the VIN tag. Thoughts?

That is a replacement VIN tag. And the trim tag is missing.

Someone should check the frame for the vin and run the number to see if it’s stolen or not.

At least the seller is making no bones that the car has provenance issues.

Even I see little redeeming about this car.

That VIN tag is a very bad reproduction. It is not even close to what an original would like.

Assuming the car does not have legal issues, I suspect that it might have been a total loss at one time, and the VIN tag was removed as part of that process. Not sure what the situation is, but definitely buyer beware.

Given the rusty/crusty condition of the bottom of that VIN/trim tag bar I think the authenticity of the tag may be the least of this car’s problems!

Could be the start of the latest auction rainmaking jargon, the rare "Barn Find Felony Car".

Like Frankie, I give the seller credit for stating up front the issues and not playing word games with the description.

Its a cheap car with lots of problems.

I agree, and if I did buy it at a price too good to pass on, I'd be sure to validate the frame stamped VIN before spending any more money on it.

Good luck... GUSTO

That is a great opportunity to spend $15K+ to buy a car to spend another $35K+ and 1000 hours labor to have a $35K car.

Maybe there is a restomod starter kit inside that POS.

If you live on a big piece of property, it might make a nice lawn ornament.

The VIN is not showing up with issues in National Insurance Crime Bureau VINCheck or National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS).

If I were interested in this car, the first thing I would do is get a reproduction VIN tag (and correct rivets) that looks more like a correct VIN tag.

In light of this, the next thing I would do is verify that the VIN on the frame is either the same, or it too is clear. If it should turn out that the frame VIN has issues it could put the entire project in jeopardy. It's the only way to truly protect any investment you make in such a project.

Flea Bay says the auction ended at a selling price of $17,800.

Okay, which of you guys bought it?

Fess up!

I wish I could find a decent C2 for around that price, seems like everything around here is 50-80k or more.

If you did find one, you'd better move fast, the line will get long very quickly!

Good luck... GUSTO
