I removed my windshield from my 64 coupe,because of leaks and trim did not fit well.It is tinted and .291 thick.Can you tell by numbers if this is the original or when it was made and are the newer thinner windshields better/stronger.Pictures included,Thanks in Advance.Alan
For starters, original windshields were made by LOF (Libby-Owens-Ford) and not by PPG. DOT was also not formed until 1968-69 time period. I can continue, but I think you get the idea.

My 66 Coupe just came home from the paint shop and I picked up a new Pilkington Windshield for it and just measured it and found it's .252 thick. I did not measure the thickness of the old/original windshield. While I was out there measuring I checked the original rear window and found it to be .235 thick.
