Default Correct Interior Dashboard Dye

I need to re-finish the black stain on the center portion of my 65's dashboard and I'm confused with the number of spray products available.

For anyone who has done this before and has gotten good results, maybe you can answer my questions.....

What's the best primer to use?
What's the best black stain?
What about the clear sealer? Should it be a satin or semi-gloss finish to make it correct and attractive?

Regarding the speaker grill, which is metal. Same questions apply.

I'm assuming the speaker grill should be painted with the same satin or gloss finish, but should it be sprayed with a paint, rather than a stain? And should the primer be compatible with metal, and not just fiberglass in order to properly adhere to the metal. I'm guessing the speaker grill would be more susceptible to scratches without using the proper primer.

Also, any preferred product brands to use that you've had good experiences with?

The finish on the dashboard below looks nice (not mine).

Thanks

Originally, the center dash of a 65-67 was painted with flattened lacquer. Krylon INDUSTRIAL 5 ball 1613 does a great job of replicating the original. It is semi-flat lacquer in a rattle can. Can NOT buy it at the big box stores. Make sure that you get the INDUSTRIAL. The other stuff is not lacquer, and is junk.

Some guys like the SEM trim black, but I don't know the number.

So, no primer? Just make sure surface prep by cleaning? A couple of thin coats is all?
