Roy Orbison's C2
I was at the museum yesterday and snapped this picture of Roy Orbison's C2. Apparently it was his daily driver when he was cutting records with the Traveling Wilbury's.

From the museum's web site: "The car has 390HP and 427 CI. It features factory side pipes, air conditioning, OEM bolt-on alloys, chrome step plates, 4-speed manual transmission, electric windows, power steering, OEM gauges, 3 2BBL carburetors and matching numbers. The car is on loan from Roy's wife, Barbara Orbison."

He didn't buy the Corvette new. He bought it from Pro team about 2 years before he died. He & his wife came to Napoleon Ohio & bought the car. Terry has pictures of them when they were there.
Also believe it was a 390/400 67 with paper work that would show 390 at the top of the tank sheet. Maybe that's why it was listed as a 390 HP & not a 400HP

Chrome step plates are too us, are called door sill plates. If the car has 3 two's, it a 400hp, not 390hp. Dennis

And chrome? On a 67? Mine are mostly painted black in the middle.

They are anodized aluminum with 31 ribs that are blacked out. Repro has 27 ribs. But hey who’s counting

If I recall correctly Elvis Presley once said that Roy Orbison was, "the greatest singer in the world" and the only other singer he considered competition.

Always throws me a bit to see Orbison in pictures - I had a boss that could have been his identical twin - right down to the glasses... Had no idea Orbison was a Corvette guy. But then I didn't know Neil Young and William Shatner were either.
BTW - this picture shows a hardtop being lifted while its still attached to the deck lid - many don't think you can do that; I've seen it done on a C2 as well:
I owned a '59 MGA that looked like the one in the upper right -- MANY years ago!

Yes, Roy owned a number of Corvettes, his red 67 seems to be the most famous, I guess it's because it was his last one. I've got his 66 Mosport green coupe which he bought brand new and then had it painted red, 2nd owner put it back to Mosport green in 1979.
