Default '67 Stock B.U. Light or 6 Tail Lights?

The '67's have a pretty unique backup light. Clearly '67 was the first year for a bunch of safety mandates. Maybe that's the reason------at least two filaments per side for stop/turn/running plus backup lights.

If that's the reason, GM could have easily went with 6 light housings, putting the backup in the middle or inner one.

Of the two, which one would have looked better to you?

EDIT: I added a poll up top for our viewing pleasure.

Stock. The six tail lights looks to cluttered for me. Never liked the look.

I didn't know 6 tail lights versus square back up lights for '67 was such a big controversy.

Did I miss the memo about what I should and shouldn't ask?

Either one looks fine, but the stock arrangement looks cleaner.

Wow, we're at 93% for the factory '67 B.U. That really surprises me. I always questioned it's looks but I do see how there is a balance or clean appearance as you guys have pointed out.

That backup light on the 67 is part of what makes it look so distinctive.

I think the 3 lights looks fine as a modification on C2s prior to '67. But being a '67 owner I had to vote for "the big square thing".
I also think the bumpers go well with 3 lights.

My good friend Jack sent me this picture. Sure looks like GM was trying a whole bunch of stuff at one point!

Those clay models were very revealing. I like how they used different ideas on each half.

I've also heard of them doing only 1/2 of a car. Then they put that half against a mirror------the reflection making it look whole.

I'm sure it's been done convert back up light to third brake light.
