C2 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified 2020

Default Can you identify?

Found this on my driveway.
Did it come from my '64 Coupe?
If so, what is it?

Thank you

Yes - it could be an extra some tech left sitting on a frame rail or one that came off your brake line from being weak or improperly installed... You'll want to find out where it should go.. Part #5 in two locations on this drawing:

Looks like the retainer for door handle.

That clip, retainer is also used to hold shift cables in brackets on auto transmissions but a 64 didn't use a cable for the trans unless someone did an aftermarket change.

Default Thanks

A thank you to all who helped to identify the mystery clip.
It appears to be a retaining clip for a brake line.
I hope to get the car on a lift this weekend and reinstall if necessary, as well as figure out what is going on with my clutch.
(hard shifting-502 miles since restoration...maddening)

Special thanks to Frankie for providing the schematic showing its install position.

Regards

Default Brake clip

Frankie,
Many thanks again for i.d.'ing the mystery clip.
It is in fact an extra, as both brake lines have clips installed tightly
Regards
