Do u ever just have a bad feeling? After our cruise in Saturday I didn’t clean car up. I usually do it Sunday morning but didn’t. So I drove it Sunday and my dad and I went for a ride. We went to an old church and it was dirt road for about 150ft. Now before we got to the church I heard something loud kick up like a rock coming out of the tire.
Anyway the arm rest on the passengers side was loose so I took it all apart at my dads house but was having problems getting the clearance so the door panel wouldn’t hit the latch. I carefully tapped it with a rubber hammer with all the panel screws loose to move it forward. Surely I didn’t move the whole door alignment.
To get to the point I have a good size chip on the top of my rocker panel on that side. The bottom of the door clears but I have a hard time thinking I kicked up a rock and it didn’t continue and mark up the door or rear quarter panel.
I bought some fiberglass putty and will carefully fill it and paint it. Thankfully it’s on the rocker and not high on a fender or hood where I wouldn’t be able to blend it in without it being obvious. It’s always something.
Too bad about the chip. Not sure I would mess with body putty to try to level it up. If you fill it up with filler by the time you get enough paint over the top of it to hide the filler you will end up with a bump or hump. It would probably come out better to dab paint into it over a period of a couple weeks - letting it dry thoroughly - until it's filled up slightly above the surrounding area. Then carefully flatten it with fine sandpaper of some sort of block or a popcycle stick and buff it out. Is it a solid color or metallic?
Thanks for the advice. I apologize for all of my rambling on the story. This is what happens when ur in Chik fil a surrounded by screaming kids.
After I got home I did use the epoxy to fill the cavity. I formed it as best I could and let it set.
Once dry I taped up around the epoxy on my paint and lightly sanded by hand until I got it smooth. I then removed the tape and sanded very careful up to 5k paper.
I then hen took my paint and dabbed it on until it kind of filled like a puddle but not to much to run. This was tough because it’s vertical. I filled it 3 or 4 times over the course of a few hours.
I will sand but I know I will never get the edges to disappear but that’s ok.
I have a rough spot right above this on the door. I just want to get it to the point it doesn’t stand out.
As has been mentioned before you can "overfill" the repair with paint and work it flat with the Langka Blob Eliminator product...there are several videos on the process. Or do the same thing and CAREFULLY wet sand the repair.
Personally since its on an edge I wouldn't sand it...too risky.
The Langka stuff will not be perfect but I think I could get it nicer than what you have now...and its no risk....if you're unhappy with the result you wipe it all off and start over.

Im aware of the Lanka product and hav used it in the past. I’m not finished yet and I’m gonna try to wet sand it first. Thanks, I will post the finished product.
