Might be a redundant question but......Is there a roller camshaft that provides a similar performance as a LT1 cam? While I really like the sound of solids thinking about upgrading on a 327. Will be using aluminum heads as well.
Thanks

Hydraulic? If you like the sound of solids, you can have both! I have a small solid roller in my 69 Camaro. Motor was built in the mid 80’s. .030 over trough relief flat tops (basically a 71 LT-1) ported 492 casting heads, victor Jr., 750 DP, 1 3/4” headers. My car runs 12.7’s at 110 mph with 4.10 gears and Super T-10 4 speed, and did that in the early 90’s. So figure 340? WHP. Pulls hard to 6500 rpm in first, usually shift 6400 2nd & 3rd and run it out.
Comp 280SR mechanical street roller. 236 @ .050 and I think .560 lift before lash? 110 LSA. I think this gives similar rpm range to the LT-1 cam, maybe not quite as much top end. Idles great and punches way above it’s weight class IMO. I have considered hydraulics, but car runs so well that won’t happen.
The hydraulics I was looking at were in the 240 degree range at .050.

All my life, I've gone with flat tappet cams (solid and/or hyd), mainly because of price.
Last year, we built a SB400 with a Comp Cams hyd roller for my son's 73 Vette. WOW, once you go roller, you will never go back. BBs be careful when my son is lurking!
You talking solid or hyd roller ? I built a 406 this winter and put a solid roller by C.C. Love it , still got the musical solid lifter sound , idles nice and runs great. Very well behaved. Just make sure you get springs to match.
