So this may sound a tad basic but I need some info. I have a 66 BB 427/390 all original I was able to start it before we pulled the motor to re seal everything.
I went to put the original coil back in and of course I did not take good enough pictures ugh but I know the Pink wires from the ignition / resistor go to the positive post but where does the black wire from the distributor and the black wire from the capacitor go.
my logic is telling me capacitor should go on the positive but I’m not sure
Pink (double) wires to the positive along with the capacitor (if you chose to hook it up) and black wire to the distributor to the negative side if you have stock point setup.
Your logic is correct. The external capacitor black wire connects to the coil (+) terminal. This is shown in the assembly instruction manual RPO U69, sheet A6. The logic is that the capacitor inside the distributor is already connected between coil (-) and ground, and you don't need two of them connected that way.
