I have a 1967 coupe with working speedometer, 5 digit odometer, and trip miles odo. But it will not reset to zero.
Or to anything. The **** pulls down but will not engage the trip odo. Is the cable broken? Ecklers has new ones, they cost about $45.00. It's the only thing not working on my dependable coupe. Thanks for the help, in North GA.
The ****'s normal position should be down and it should take some effort to push it up against the springs in the odometer...
The **** and cable push up on a cone shaped tip that forces the main gear off the odometer by moving its horizontal driveshaft to the left and engages the trip meter gear to allow it to be reset...

Just be careful if your cable is sticking it is the number one cause for breaking the gears for the odometer and trip odometer learned that lesson after I had mine rebuilt but did not replace the cable turned out the cable caused the gears to break. And of course it broke them again had to remove the entire cluster and send The speedometer back. A lesson I will never forget it happened years ago I always remove my cable and lubricated and make sure it springs back-and-forth very easily.
Well, now I finally see your fine point, just when I thought I'd done it all.........
The picture helped alot, too. SO, it works fine. Cheers to ya........thanks
