Temperature gauge
I’m sure this has been discussed at sometime but here it goes. I had my gauges rebuilt and I’m having a problem with the temperature gauge set it back and was told that it checked out ok but that I should use their sending unit so I bought one and installed it. I still have the same problem that the gauge goes to 220 as the engine warms up. The engine is running in the 175 - 185 range with the gauge reading 220? The sending unit is reading 150 ohm when warm any help would be appreciated. I tried running a separate ground to the gauge mount no difference.Thanks guys

I never had a self heating issue, but i corrected my gauge by experimenting with different resistors in the gauge wire. i think i ended up with an 18 ohm equivalent resistor (two 37ohm resistors in parallel), or maybe is was 37 ohm equiv from two 75 ohm resistors in parallel, whatever, so that engine temp at 180, gauge read at 180. Yeah, i know reading will vary from actual once you leave 180, but i don't give a ****. If it starts to rise too much, i know something is amiss.
