Hi Everyone,
Hope y'all have a nice Thanksgiving Holiday!
I have a question regarding scissor jacks.
I recently picked up a 1958 jack out of the trunk of a junked Chevy passenger car and was wondering if Corvette used a similar, or completely different jack.
I need to repaint the rusted piece of iron (which works well) and need to know if it was glossy or dull.
As I am cheap, I plan on just using it one way or the other but was just wondering about the paint.
Thanks!
If I remember correctly, there is a cast debossed part number on the top center of the bottom plate. Should be very visible. From memory it is 4653J. Each digit is roughly 1/4" tall, so it very visible. It must have this in order to be considered a corvette jack for these early years which include '58. I suppose that it is possible that your jack could be a later model year jack that found its way into a '58 passenger car, so showing us a photo is the best way to determine what you have.
