Default 63 Engine pad

I would appreciate all opinions on my engine pad. Is it original?

Thanks

No broach marks and appears surface may have been sanded although numbers/letters seem correct.begee22

I can see faint brooch marks, and the pitting on the engine pad also seems consistent with an aged and one time rusty engine pad.

The numbers look good as well.

Looks legit - its just old and prob been subjected to some well-meaning but misguided ministrations from prior owners...

Looks good to me. Appears as though it was left out in the rain with all that pitting.

All of you guys are really good. The motor was left out of the car for more than 25 in the garage elements just lying on the floor. I am sure during some part of that neglected time it was subject to moisture and therefore the pitting occurred. Yes the broach marks are there but they are faint. The motor is back in the car and will be taken care of from this point forward. I bought this car believing that it was an original motor so thanks to everyone for confirming that.

Looks good. My numbers are very faint. I need a magnifying glass to see the broach marks. But according to the judging guide they can be faint.

Rich Yanulis can you please post a picture of your original engine pad. I know that our original pads share the slight space at the top of the "R". I have been asked about that small spacing and I would like to clear up that it is factory correct.

Thanks

I believe this is Rich's engine pad. At first glance the 'R' does appear to have a gap, but if you look closely it just seems that the debris/corrosion is missing from that section of the R.

Good luck... GUSTO

Jay,
Here is a photo of my absolutely original stamp pad (the engine has never been apart or out of the car)
My engine was assembled exactly 14 days after yours.
There are many similarities, in the "R" and the other numbers/characters.
I would say without question.........your stamp pad is original.
Rich

Note:
I find it very interesting that 56 years after it was done........we can identify that the the exact same tool was used to stamp the "R".

RIch's car has become the forum's "benchmark" for originality and I've imposed on him many times to check things for me....
I think it even has 1963 air in the tires..

Rich thank you very much for posting your pad picture. I agree with Frank and your car is the benchmark for all 63's. Yes it is amazing that you can clearly tell that the same tooling was used for our two engine pads. Thanks to everyone that has contributed on my thread to help and confirm that my engine is original. I can now say with confidence that it is.
