Default Tire size question

For driving radials on a 63, which would look best......
P 205 75R 15
. OR
P 215 70R 15
. Your comments are greatly appreciated, especially if you have either of these sizes on your mid year.

It varies depending on rim width and offset. Need more information

I doubt if you could see any difference looking at them, but you might have some clearance issues when doing a full turn with the slightly wider ones.

I run 205 15s on my Honda Fit, for goodness sake buy some fender flares for your 63!

The 205 75 R15 fit great and look great on a 6 inch rim. My 65 had 5.5 rims from St. Louis. The 205 75 R15 is the modern radial match for the factory 775 15 I'm almost sure. Your 63 was the same size I believe. Mine are older Cooper tires in the 205 series and due for replacement this spring. Been a great set of tires.

I presently have 205/75/15 on the front and 215/75/15 on the rear. Here are two pictures, one with whitewalls and one without:

in the late 60's I ran 205vr15 Pirelli 528s and then 205vr15 Pirelli cn72s
and finally the then new 215/70vr15 Michelin XWX on 15x7 American torque thrust Ds
the Michelins could have used a little wider wheel and were Ferrari Tires
ran about 3 ATUs pressure for highway driving
nothing handles like an XWX with the steel lower sidewalls

Hi, I run 215/70/15 great on road but at full turn you will rub slightly on frame...but if you have power steering , you don't do full lock turns anyway..

The Michelin XWX is a fabulous tire - I've bought MANY sets of them over the years for my Ferraris. They were expensive in the 60's-70's, and are much more so now.

Wow! You were not kidding. Almost $400 each. You can get 4 17” Michelin Pilot 4S plus nice wheels for $2K. That might be the better way to go if you are looking for good handling.

Default Not Much Difference

Here is my car with 205/75R-15 (Firestones):

Firestone 205/75R-15

Another shot with 205/75R-15 tires

And now with Firestone FR710s in 215/70R-15s

Similar angle to above

One one more for good measure

More of a head on angle to better see the width

And, if you look at my avatar, you can better see the front-on view - also running 215/70R-15s.

I get only the slightest scrapping on wheel lock - nothing with regular driving.

Note to self - clean up those whitewalls!

Neither.

Go big or go home. I use 225/60/15s on 7"-wide wheels with full fender lips and no rub issues.
