I've cut some thin rubber to shape and used it before Joe - IIRC it was rubber drawer liner for toolboxes or something of the sort...for something even thinner I think those super thin kitchen plastic cutting boards would do nicely...

Thanks Frankie. I have some thin liner, never thought of it. I wonder if there is anything that is clear so it will not show on the white body.
I am finally getting back to the 61 after months away from it. I got this much done this afternoon but I have a few issues that is holding me up.
I had to send back to the chromers my front bumpers, the right side eyebrows and the upper grille surround and the left windshield post. Then I have to get the car back to the painter to fix a few issues on the drivers side before I can assemble the door and put any side molding on.
Nobody said it would be easy.

I did between the brackets and body of the rear bumpers of my '61. I just cut some gasket material to fit the bracket (had to make bolt holes in them) and used a little RTV to hold them in place.
I bought some medium Durometer 2" x 1/8" thick strip neoprene rubber from McMaster carr and cut some squares out of that. The fiberglass makes unwelcome cracking noises if you don't use it.

I feel ya, seems like every job I farm out, I have to have redone anymore, cars, house, boat, etc...
I didn't think it used to be that way but maybe it did....
This pic of my 63 bumpers off the car shows what I did, it works well and honestly, on a C2, you almost have to stand on tip toes and look straight down the fender to notice it; its tacked on with some Welwood Contact Cenent.
You really don't want something too thin or it won't protect the paint well...and don't use anything with a pattern on it (crosshatch, squares, etc); it can leave an impression on clear coat.
