I started work on my 1959 restomod. I traded for a basket-case 59, but now have the body roughed-in and in fairly nice shape, filled in the cowl vent and working on filling in the gas hatch now, All the bumpers and trim are off and headed out to be re-chromed; and I am ready to start shopping for a frame/chassis. I have been looking at several, including the Art Morrison and the SRIII. In the end this car will be a weekend high-end driver / show ready level. For those with experience, any recommendations on the new chassis? I am leaning towards a straight axle setup as I like the look of a lowered and slight rake with 12-14" rear tires tucked under. It would also be helpful to hear some opinions on the difference between a bare frame vs a complete chassis. The cost difference seems a little steep for the suspension added to the bare frame from the frame vendors... or is that just my lack of experience speaking?.
As always, thanks for everyone's help and great suggestions.
Drive up to Sequin and visit with Billie Dawson and look at his "Corvette Correction" operation. Billie is a very personable guy and will make time for you too.

I would also suggest going over to Seguin and talking to Billy Dawson. If he has one of his cars there, I am sure he would let you drive it. I am not sure that Billy can do a solid axle rear, all of his cars that I have seen use C4 suspension front and rear.
You want a 12"-14" wide rear tire? Are you planning to "tub" the rear? I have one of Billy's frames under my '59 but I added 2.5" rear flares to accommodate325/50R15 drag radials. Also there are methods to adjust the rear suspension in the rear to achieve the proper rake.
What engine and transmission are you planning to use?
I plan on using a LS3/auto connect & cruise from GM. I do plan on a small tub in the rear and loosing the soft top, I have a hardtop and absolutely will have AC in the car. Thank for the suggestion for Seguin, and I love your cars stance...,
