67grille mounting

Default 67grille mounting

Hi, I am to put new grille mounting brackets on the inner fenders how is correct mounting of the rivets? from inside fender and out or from outside through the brackets?

The rivets are placed from the back/wheel well side and peened over from the front per my original '67. See attached pic from the wheel well side.. Dennis

The AIM shows them going in from the front. That might be causing the confusion. All I've ever seen are as you show them.

Pretty standard practice for the head to be on the fiberglass side and the preened end to be on the metal or bracket side. Preened shafts don't hold too well in the fiberglass skin. Might be exceptions to that somewhere but I would have to go look for one.

Soft aluminum body rivets always have the shaft end peened against the metal object that's being riveted to the fiberglass panel.

Thanks, on the picture there is a bracket on inside wheel well . that's why you don't see all 4 rivets?
I do not have that bracket I think?

should it also be a rivet from top of inner fender through the hood hinge reinforcement (between the welded nuts?

that's the bumper bracket, you should have that if you have front bumpers.
