Default Paint touch up

My Pennant Blue ‘54 has a spot where the hood used to rub

the front of the car, and the paint is worn off right on the edge. Otherwise, my paint is in excellent condition. I have adjusted the hood to eliminate the rubbing.

Anybody know of a good source for pennant blue touch up paint? I do not intend to repaint the whole car for one little spot.

thanks,
michael

That's a nice car, 1st thing is to find out kind of paint is on the car before doing anything. Ask around for a good Corvette repainting shop, they can advise on how to proceed. They can determine if lacquer, enamel, single stage or base coat-clear is on car. Paint shops can then color match to touch up or respray areas required.

I really don't know best answer but thinking any really reputable body shop could give you an estimate to repair a small chip. Might be cheaper and easier in the end?

Michael,
Try these guys:
https://www.paintscratch.com

I have bought both a rattle can and a chip touch up bottle from them.

I’d recommend finding a local automotive paint supply shop (not a body shop) and bringing your car in. Most do a very good job matching. I’ve done this several times and have not been disappointed. I have been disappointed buying from internet sites as they are rarely perfect matches.

Looking at the picture of your car, I’m guessing you want a perfect match.

I found this website with Corvette Paint Codes by year.
https://www.corvettepaintcodes.com/

Don't know if this helps you any or not.

For 1954, Pennant Blue is shown as:
Valspar Code = MW5401
PPG Code = 11238
Du Pont Code = 57797

.

Just a warning... I used the code for Jewel Blue from that site.. and when my painter sprayed it out (cluster), it was clearly the wrong color (too light - looked more like frost blue). He ended up using his computer matching system to create the Jewel Blue for me.

For exterior, I have used the Ermine White from this company: https://www.automotivetouchup.com/
Both the rattle can and the small bottle/brush.

The match is very good to my original paint.

Fred
