Hi --- Will a later mid-year (1964-67) muffler hangar work on my 1963? The rubber portion of one of my hangars is missing and trying to see if all the mid-year hangars are interchangeable. Haven't been able to find just the rubber section. Thanks.
Thanks for your note. I realize that the "restoration correct" muffler hangars for 1963 are different than for 64-67. What I am trying to figure out is if the 64-67 muffler hangars will also work on my 1963. Replacements for some "one year" 1963 pieces can be expensive compared to similar 64-67 parts and may be less effective than later mid-year updates. For instance, the center exhaust hangar for 64-67 (~$30) is different from the 1963 (~$145), but works fine on a 1963. Any additional guidance appreciated!
If I remember correctly, the support bracket welded on the '64 and later mufflers is located slightly differently from the corresponding piece on a '63 muffler. Let's say my memory isn't faulty. You could probably use later mufflers and later hangers together but not mix and match.
BTW, I have a '63 also and I know what you mean about one-year-only or part-year-only parts.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't use the 64-67 hangers. 63-67 mufflers are all the same, my Corvette Parts Books list the same part numbers for use from 63-67. I think the only difference in the hangers was that 63's were made up of separate pieces, while the 64-67's were a complete one piece assembly.
If the only thing wrong with your hangers is the rubber, there is a repair kit available from most Corvette vendors for about $35.
The '63 muffler hangers were redesigned for '64 as part of the NVH reduction program. They will work just fine on a '63, but will take a hit in NCRS judging.
