Hello can anyone tell me does a L88 427 use a thin top piston ring Trying to determine if I have a L88 it has the extra plug for the oil cooler 7/16 rod bolts and 12.5:1 pistons date code H 28 9 casting #3963512. CE067152. With iron heads 3919840 E 15 8 GM 4T I understand doesn’t have aluminum heads but wondering about block

AFAIK, they're supposed to be 1/16" inch top and second compression rings. Other 427s (L72/L72/L36) have 5/64" top and second compression rings.
