I just had my carb rebuilt from my 67 L79 4spd, seems my secondaries are hardly opening what could be the cause? I'm not that great at finding the causes of things but when I do I can fix things fairly often. Any ideas for me? Thanks ahead of time, you all have helped me before.
I assume you have a Holley carb with vacuum secondaries. I don't know how you are determining (testing) the secondaries are hardly opening.
If the carb was just rebuilt, was the diaphragm in the vacuum motor housing replaced? Was the gasket to the body installed properly or is it blocking the vacuum passage? If someone else rebuilt it, talk to them and explain your problem.
You might want to go to the Holley website if it is a Holley and in the technical section do some research on your model carb.
Here is one way you can verify if your secondary throttles are opening by a road test. Tie a zip tie around the secondary shaft and leave a 2 - 3" tail on it. Lay it forward against the carb base (horizontal) and go road test the car. If the tail is sticking pretty much straight up your secondaries opened fully. If not moved they are not opening. If partially opening - you get the idea. Here is a picture of where to put it.
