Hi all,
Can anyone shed some light if Quick Start Automotive Electrics ( Quick start alternators ) in Grand Rapids MI is still in operation. Spoke to Randy (I'm sure that was his name) about six weeks ago inquiring about an 80 amp upgrade kit for my 42 amp 10DN alternator.
Have tried calling everyday and left messages the last 3 weeks with no answer. Randy has various complete kits with thicker 12si stators, heavy duty diodes etc, to do an upgrade on the 10dn.
Is there anyone else in the US that sells kits of a similar nature?
I don't know about kits but any competent rebuild shop can do the upgrade; I have two original 63 "628" alternators upgraded from 35 amp factory spec. One is 70 amp now and the other 100. Cost about $60 each IIRC.
I bought a 130A kit on ebay, but haven't installed it yet. When I bought my car it had a 110A chromed alternator so I was going to rebuild the original alternator and put it back on the car. Since the chromed alternator is working fine, it just hasn't been very high on the priority list.

I hear you. No auto elec wants to touch them down here unless I supply them with the kit.
Managed to find another place in the US.... " Alternator & Starter Parts Wholesale ", they have a 130 amp upgrade kit ( a little overkill ) but I'll give them a try.

Hmm... Didn't think about that. The kit should work out fine....didn't realize where you were located.
