Default Wiring harness/cluster install question

Getting ready to install the instrument gauge cluster and the wiring harness in my 66 roadster. What have you found to be the best method? Install wiring harness, then hook up cluster as it is slid into place or install the wiring harness on the cluster and then put the whole thing in as a unit?

I installed the cluster in the dash along with all the heater controls and the clock with the dash on some saw horses. Then I hooked up the wiring harness. Then I took the whole mess and installed the complete dash assembly in the car. It’s a lot easier hooking up that harness to the dash before it goes in the car!!

I agree but would add you want to bench test the cluster before the install.

Good write up here, by Lars. Unfortunately, PhotoBuckethead has blurred the pictures. I'm assuming he didn't want to pay the King's Ransom to keep his pictures hosted.
