Welcome.

If you know the name of the original dealer that sold your car, go ahead and post the dealer's name and city. Some users on here might be able to help you.

If you don't know the name of the original dealer, the NCRS has a service for that (and the date your car was made).

As an NCRS member, you can order the "Shipping Data Report Service" on this link:
https://www.ncrs.org/services/histor...nt-service.php

Hi Well this is a controversy indeed. Original selling dealer was Valley Chevrolet in Scotia NY. Original owners sister verified it came from there. Problem is that Valley Chevrolet Corporation is not listed! Dealership ran until about 1967-68. At the same time Salisbury Chevrolet in Ballston Spa NY moved from Ballston Spa to Glenville NY. I cannot find dealer code for either Salisbury or Valley which I am surprised to hear. I know they existed as I would travel past Valley in Scotia and purchased parts at Salisbury up until they were closed due to GM shutting them down. I located a secretary that worked for Valley back then and she said that Valley Chevy would swap cars with Mohawk Chevy in nearby Schenectady. The Valley Chevy dealership was a small one and she said often a car (Corvettes) would be delivered to Mohawk then Valley would swap cars. Someone suggested that Salisbury possibly came down to Glenville ( close to Scotia) and absorbed the dealer code from Valley. Would this have been a possibility. It took my many years and many phone calls and searches to find past owners of the Corvette. It was drag raced often and around 1966 it was sold to a Police officer from Schenectady that drag raced Mopars. He had it for only about 6 months and sold it to the guy I purchased it from because it had so many issues!! Then next guy stripped her down big time and drag raced her too. I located the remains in 1972. Brought home everything stripped out in boxes!! She has lead a rough life but now she is on milk runs in the evening for pleasure rides. Slowly correcting many issues and that previous owner ripped and tore out of her. She will never be a 100 pointer but we enjoy her and sometimes show her. I really appreciate all you folks that do the correct rebuild so guys like me can figure out what is correct and not. You are a wealth of info indeed.Did discover she was drag raced at a local speedway up until about 1966. Was told it was a 2x4 setup from factory with hydraulic cam and a four speed. I purchased it with the blown motor in pieces and the 2x4 setup gone!! I now have a correct period 283 short block for it and collecting parts to put her back the way she came out of the factory. A 1964 Chevy Impala 283 with super low miles from a wreck back in the the 1970's is in there now. It runs well for now. If anybody could shed some light on the above dealer info I would appreciate it. I will try and post a recent photo of her along with an as purchased photo. Not pretty . Thanks again.

I found an old newspaper article about Salisbury Chevrolet closing its business back on July 31, 2009.
https://dailygazette.com/article/200...alisburycloses

The NCRS Dealer Database shows that Salisbury Chevrolet was reported in 1980 to be Dealer Code 451 in Zone 48.
The address shown for the dealership back in 1980 was 175 Freemans Bridge Rd, Scotia, NY.
Note that the accuracy of the dealership data in the NCRS dealer database is not always correct and is best verified through additional sources.

Good luck on your hunt.

From the "then and now" pictures your car has gotten so much better looking. Can the same be said for you since you don't appear again? Fine looking car and welcome.

Thanks. It has been a long journey for her. I try to repair broken areas or incorrect items on her. She is a 40 foot car!! When I get all the broken or missing or incorrect parts done she will get a new paint job and bumpers re chromed. Every year I work on another issue but keep her on the road for an evening drive up in the hills around here. I always spot other 61's at shows to see what is needed next. I thought I tossed out the original engine many years ago until I found owner #3. He blew it up and just replaced it with another 283 punched out with a cam, 2 4bbls and a high tunnel ram. I felt better after he told me thinking I scrapped the original engine. She still leans some to the right from bad rear springs. Too many hole shots in the day. I did locate a correct 283 for it and am working on collecting all the pieces for it too. You guys are the best with your knowledge that I depend on.
