Well I filled the tank the other day so tonight I stuck my hand in the tank and the float feels rough and it was not up to the fuel level??????? So I wonder, could I slide the float off the lever and replace it with another float??????? Anyone ever heard of doing that??????
Talked to Chevy parts and Ecklers yesterday. Doesn't seem like 65-67 has a replacement float. Oddly enough Ecklers has one for 63-64 that looks like brass. Nothing there for 65-67. When I get tired of it I'll probably have to burn down near empty and replace the whole assembly.
Yes the floats do leak at times and get gas in them, I had to replace the float on the sending unit on my 60 Vette, a month or so ago, I found a jeep float that matched it perfectly, sending unit still good just float was about half full of gas.
Hey Bill did you just pull the float off the lever while still in the tank. That's what I was hoping I could do. I suppose after burning the tank down low and draining the remaining fuel into something it would be a simple fix, I'm just not happy with the idea of gas leaking all over until I can get the float mechinism out.

I had to remove the sending unit because on a c-1 you can't reach the inside of the tank through the filler neck, however if you can reach it through the filler neck it would be very easy to replace in the tank it just snaps into a wire loop at the end of the arm.
