Default Hardtop Question

I have a midyear roadster that came with a hardtop. I've never put it on the car. My question is besides the windshield latches and the bolts on the sides isn't there supposed to be mounting holes in the deck lid? My car only has holes for the ragtop. And if there were holes for the hardtop, what fits in them? Are there supposed to be fittings on the rear of the hardtop that go into the holes into the decklid? Signed, Confused in Wisconsin

Default Re: Hardtop Question (steinboy56)

If you look at your Hard top on the bottom edge inside of the weatherstrip approximatey 15 from the center on both side you'll see an oblong hole. This is for a a carriage type bolt that slips into the hole and and locks then goes through the deck lid and is held by a wing nut on the inside. Your going to have to put your Hardtop on the car and mark where the center of these holes should be. Then you can drill and install some bezels available from somebody like Dr. Rebuild. I would caution you that when you do this you make sure the holes are correct, you get only one shot. I also would advise you make sure you use a plastic protector between the hard top and the deck. both when you do this job and whenever you intend to use the top. If you don't the friction from the weatherstrip will wear a ridge in your deck lid. Later...vetzs
