Default Dash pads

Mine are in good shape but I am having a real problem extracting the studs out of the passenger side pad. No idea how I got the pad out with the studs still in, but I did, now to try to get them back on the dash with the studs in I am afraid I will break the pad.
Any secrets. No idea if the screws are in the plastic mold, the wood, or what, I just know breaking the pad should not be an option. Can I chase the bolt with some WD40 without regretting it in 2034?

The studs are part of the structure. They are not supposed to come out. The pads get installed with the studs in place.

Man, I have tried just about everything to get the stud in the hole closest to the passenger side door and its just not going in no matter what I do. I am being really careful because I know these pads are both old and brittle but I would like to keep them. My concern is the pad leg closest to the passenger door will snap off if I exert too much force. I am about the bolt width away from the hole, so I have to be able to move it another 3/8-1/2 inch and the pad is up against the frame because its too high and does not sit in the pocket. I will try again tomorrow because I am sure I would have broken the pad if I had stuck around today...bubba was coming out, so I left.
I will try putting the pads in with the longer leg not against the console and take the leg beyond the console and try to tip the bolt in

There is only two studs in the right pad. They are at the top. All the other areas are secured by clips. Please see pictures.

As I recall 6 on the RH side and 8 on the LH side.

Thats the problem, those two studs, I can get the one closest to the clock in, but not the one closest to the door, on the passenger side. Elongating the hole would be admitting defeat There has to be a rather subtle trick
