My Glove Box Time Capsule-What was left behind in yours?
My car is close to completion and I was going through some boxes and found my glove box shell (new one from vintage air). I left everything in it when it came out of the car at the beginning of restoration. I know the previous owner bought the car in IL in 67 and moved to San Francisco the end of 70. He moved back to IL in 79, trailered the car there because of mechanical issues and it sat in a garage there until 2014. There was also a CA license plate and several years of registrations showing different addresses in San Francisco. I travel to SF frequently for work and about 2 years ago I had spare time there and drove to each address and took pics. I thought I would share the other things I found inside. My favorite are the sunglasses. It truly is a time capsule!
Yes, that is a bullet casing! I’d love to know the story behind that!!!
So with all that said, I thought a cool thread would be to show what was left behind in other cars revealing it’s history. What have you guys found?

My 63 came with a notebook in the glovebox where the owner recorded all the mileage for many years:

I forgot about this too. I may have posted it before. Found it when we took the body off. Not sure how it got there, but it had been there for a while.

Under the unattached jacking compartment lid carpet was a plastic sheet protector with the original Florida title and other paperwork for the owner who bought my '65 at Mecum Kissimmee in January 2013 and subsequently traded it to the Chevrolet dealer I bought it from just over a year later.

Not in the glove box, but I found a very worn pocket knife in the passenger side vent chamber. Must have fallen in when it was being painted, having body work.
It's the center pocket knife, a 1930-1940's KEEN KUTTER. Also when removing the carpet around the console and shifter there were some grease soaked "Roaches" near the ashtray. (No picture)

As a poor sailor I did that for the first several years after getting married and starting a family. We were so poor that we couldn't pay attention, and used to buy one ice cream cone and split it. We had to budget to the penny back then.

Hard to dispute proof and that guy kept those records for nearly 10 years in that notebook..

It also comes in valuable when you're selling your old cars privately (I never trade cars, I sell them myself) to show that the car has been meticulously attended to. I used one of those old green "pocket brains" and document every fill up, as well as every service, maintenance, or replacements. It has helped me hold firm onto asking top 1% values for my used cars at selling time.

Not a corvette but my '64 Malibu that came from California. I'm in Ontario Canada and up under the dash was lots of white beach sand and a pack of American cigarettes.

Last fall I brought my dads ‘67 coupe home after sitting for 20 years and found a self portrait that I did in the glove box Haha, totally forgot about it. I’m guessing I did this in the mid to late 80s, I would have been 10-12 years old. Hangs in my office now.

Late to the party, but that's what happens when my shop and my computer are 25 minutes apart. Between the shades and the .38 Special cartridge I thought it's worth a look.

When I bought my '41 Buick (never restored) about 10 years ago, buried deep in the glove box at the bottom I found some actual WWII gas rationing stamps that had never been used.

Safety Car
Mine had change, fuses, large assortment of nuts, bolts and screws, pocket knife, folded cardboard for getting tension on the hardtop latches, pair of cheap pliers and some papers. I did get the interior bonus collection as well. Even found a can of brake fluid I bought in 1986 as well as unearthing other trinkets.
