Default 265 engine information

I was wondering if there was a way to tell what thisb came out of. I know it is a 1956 or 57 265 V8

The 0991 was used in 1956 Corvettes as a 265 in horsepowers of 210, 225, and 240, according to Colvin's book.

However, this engine, built at Flint (correct for Corvette)(the "F") was a 155HP 2 barrel, manual transmission truck engine (the "E"). It was the 390,679th 265 V8 engine built at Flint for the '56 model year.

It may have been in a Corvette at some time, but not from the factory.

F56B is a Flint engine,
1956 year,
B = 265 ci, 155 hp, auto trans, in a large truck

Ah, you see a “B” where I saw an “E.”

Must be a large, slow truck.

Think I see an E, compare the top right of the E to the top right of the F

IT may be an E, hard to tell.

The only difference in application is the B is an automatic trans large truck, and the E is a manual trans large truck.

And the font of these characters (all of the characters) is completely different that what I would expect to see. This looks like a really bad restamp, but I have no idea why anyone would restamp this engine like this.

Here is a factory stamp for comparison
