The 0991 was used in 1956 Corvettes as a 265 in horsepowers of 210, 225, and 240, according to Colvin's book.
However, this engine, built at Flint (correct for Corvette)(the "F") was a 155HP 2 barrel, manual transmission truck engine (the "E"). It was the 390,679th 265 V8 engine built at Flint for the '56 model year.
It may have been in a Corvette at some time, but not from the factory.

The only difference in application is the B is an automatic trans large truck, and the E is a manual trans large truck.
And the font of these characters (all of the characters) is completely different that what I would expect to see. This looks like a really bad restamp, but I have no idea why anyone would restamp this engine like this.
