I have just taken a look at the stamping on the block and there at block casting number
as far as I can tell there should be a letter in front of my number but I don’t have that
or perhaps I’m looking in the wrong spot all together
i did follow a link from here to nasty z28 on how decode but I’m a bit lost
here are a couple pictures ( the stamping reads 805563038)
I don't have the breakdown for your stamp pad number sequence but the block casting number corresponds to a 283 cubic inch small block engine for a 1965 or 66 Chevelle or passenger car. The block has 2 bolt mains and the horsepower rating was anywhere from 195 to 220. Hope this helps. C.J.
